Coca-Cola Likely to Settle Race Suit Before Shareholder Meeting Atlanta, March 25 (Bloomberg) -- Coca-Cola Co. will likely settle a racial-discrimination lawsuit before its annual meeting next month to avoid a potentially damaging trial, investors, legal experts and a former employee said. Most lawsuits of this type are settled out of court, said Charles Silver, a law professor at the University of Texas. Coca- Cola also needs to avoid another public-relations black-eye, after it caused a health scare in Europe last summer and said it will fire 6,000 workers this year, investors said.
